Baptism

We believe that water baptism is a public declaration of three important things: you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you are beginning a changed life in Christ, and you are part of a new family.

What is water baptism?
The Greek word from which we get the word baptism is “baptizo”, which means “to immerse”. All water baptisms in scripture were by full immersion. When Christians are baptized, they are immersed under water to identify with the death and burial of Jesus and raised out of the water to identify with His resurrection.
Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:10, Acts 8:38-39

When should I be water baptized?
Baptism is an important step of obedience that shows others we have personally trusted Jesus for our salvation. Jesus was baptized when He was on the earth, and we do this to follow His example.
Romans 10:9-10, Acts 8:12, Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 1:9

Do you water baptize children?
We wait to water baptize a child until they are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism. All instances of water baptism in scripture followed a person’s own decision to trust Christ alone for their salvation. When a child makes a personal decision to follow Jesus, we will gladly help them take the step of water baptism.
